There is a good
saying “Actions speak louder than words”. In my opinion, we can consider it
speaking about body language. It means that sometimes person’s gesture can
display feelings as well. To be honest gestures and words aren’t in line with
each other. As a matter of fact such kind of reply shows the real attitude to
the things which you are feeling about. Each of us should be an observant
person as understanding the body language can prevent you from misunderstanding
someone’s reply, as it’s always better safe than sorry. Even so, you can never
tell what the true feelings are. Broadly speaking, never jump to conclusions as
you can be let down.
Still you can
watch or even download some videos in which there are shown classic examples of
easy gesture and its meaning as well. It’d be informative for you at any rate.
As I was saying
we face the body language every day, communicating with different people, but
it’s hard to understand their gestures when you see them at first. However,
it’s possible, when you are studying with some people, with whom you are
speaking every day. For example, there is a girl in my group who usually raises
eyebrows when she has to do some unexpected task and she’s confused about it.
Also, she licks her lips when she’s nervous or worried about her hometask. Besides,
she scratches head sometimes when she doesn’t understand some theoretical
material. Another my groupmate, a boy, usually raises eyebrows before he starts
laughing. The other his gesture, is clenching his fists when he sits too long.
One of the girls drums her fingers when she is waiting for the end of the class
and she folds arms when she’s unprepared or trying to think properly about how
to answer correctly or something like that.
So, we should
bear in mind that body language is as important as words and in order to fancy somebody
we shouldn’t making generalizations about someone’s words. Just live and let
live.
There’s no doubt that gestures are very useful because they allow to communicate without words. However, you should know a person pretty well in order to understand what he or she implies. Mind you, we should be very careful when using gestures in a company of people whom we don’t know. As you said, they may misinterpret our body language and take offence at us. All in all, we should remember to be careful and don’t leap into conclusions about interpreting gestures.
ВідповістиВидалитиI like the proverb that Olga used in her blog Action speaks louder than words. As for me, we shouldn`t jump to the conclusion about the person only having a small conversation with her or after opinions of other people. As for me, sometimes it is much more necessarily to see what the person will under pressure. I agree with Olga that it is very important to observe person character and body language as we can learn a lot of new from person`s gestures.
ВідповістиВидалити19. Your post contained a lot of interesting information. Some facts I will bear in mind. Incidentally I have noticed in you descriptions some gestures I used to have. It is considerable difficulty to control gestures. Even more complicated than interpret them
ВідповістиВидалитиI’m fully agree with you, very often we can misinterpret gestures, that is why it’s better to know person and then try to recognize his/her body language.
ВідповістиВидалитиActions speak louder than words and it's definitely true. Sometimes we have train of thoughts, suppress our feelings and couldn't say our real attitude to something, but our body language can show everything what we want to hide. Finally, it is very important to get acquainted with a meaning of gestures in order not to be cheated.
ВідповістиВидалитиThanks to our gestures we can express our feelings and emotions, but we should use them carefully because some of them can be used against us. Also, I agree with your reflections about this topic.
ВідповістиВидалитиSometimes gestures are more important than words, because it can help us to recognize what person really think. We shouldn`t jump to the conclusion only because of words, it is better to check gestures. They will tell the truth.
